Dear Families,

We had a fantastic end to this week with the final sensory art workshops at the school through the new partnership with the National Art Archives and Department for Culture, Media, and Sports. We were thrilled to have another special school join us as well today. The artwork ‘Bubbles’ by Rachel Whitread was in residence at Swiss Cottage School for the lessons over the last two weeks.

The national priorities for education funding have increased over the past few years, and in particular for London with the additional cost of living crisis. The school has increased partnership and knowledge exchange activities to ensure we benefit from links with key organisations for curriculum learning opportunities, training, research, and technology developments. We have continued to work with specific local independent schools on joint charity fundraising activities. The school is also fortunate to have the support of the Swiss Cottage School Charity. The school charity works closely with key organisations to raise awareness of inclusion priorities, access grant funding, and fundraise for specific resources, equipment, and specialist workshops. The fundraising focus for this year includes two accessible minibuses following the changes in ULEZ requirements.

The month of May includes activities that support our focus on raising awareness and financial fundraising. Testimonials from families helps potential donors understand how they can help make a positive difference for our community. We will send a text to parents/carers next week with an optional survey link if you want to share a quote that can be featured in different events. Highlighting a few of the activities this month:

4th May 2024: We will be raising awareness of the school to our local community at a Primrose Hill event organised by the school charity. Information on the school featuring our ‘EmployMEnt Pathway’ with pupil designed pottery creations on display. https://cardanddesign-sc.co.uk/

11th May 2024: We are privileged to be selected as a charity recipient for the Lion’s Club of Enfield Annual Gala Night. Senior Leaders will be joining the event to present the school’s provision, curriculum, teaching approaches, partnerships including with families, staff development, and fundraising priorities. The school was a recipient previously in 2018 which funded two sensory rooms in our school.

19th May 2024: Class teacher Sebastian has secured a place for our school in the upcoming Run King's Cross Run. The ‘fun run’ also raises awareness of our school to corporate sponsors. This is a special event because the organisers invite families that want to take part to bring their child to a local race. The event will bring together 12 primary schools from Camden and Islington. The course will be a loop around the estate from Stable Street to Granary Square, onto Canal Walk and around the Gasholder Park. We will send more information on this event next week including accessibility
information that is being discussed with the organisers. www.runkidsrun.org

Please let us know if you have any charity contacts at your work or across networks. We have an experienced group of trustees that volunteer their time and can meet with your links to explore potential donations for school equipment, resources, and specialist workshops. Thank you for the ongoing support.

Yours Sincerely,
Swiss Cottage School
